Xmas w/ Daddy's side of the family

Emily came down with a fever yesterday, not the kind of Xmas present anyone was asking for. So for the Taylor family Xmas, Daddy and Emily went to Mamaw & Papaw's house for lunch and the gift exchanging. Emily and Mommy stayed home. Mamaw, Papaw & Tonya were kind enough to come over our house afterwards and see Emily and watch her open her gifts.

Christmas night w/ Mommy's side of the family

Dinner and family time with gifts at Mom & Dad's house. Even though Emily wasn't feeling her best, we still had a great night.

Christmas morning at our house

We couldn't believe we had to actually wake the kids up at 8:30!!! They were so excited at bedtime and had such a hard time going to bed. Guess they stayed up so late being so excited that they decided to sleep in. We had a great morning seeing their excitement in all that Santa brought for them in their stockings and under the tree. The look of surprise on their faces was priceless. Christmas with children is the best gift ever!

Holiday baking & Christmas Eve

We had a great day of baking at our house on Xmas Eve. We made sugar cookies in the shapes of Xmas tree and gingerbread people. We colored our own icing and iced them green and red, well, pink. No matter how many drops of red food coloring we put in, it never got quite red enough. We crumbled peppermint and sprinkled them on top. We also made chocolate chip and peanut butter cookies. Once that was finished we made marshmallow Rice Krispie houses and decorated them with icing and candy. We had a very sweet and fun day!

Blackeyed Peas dance

Ever since seeing the Oprah show where the crowd danced, the kids have loved this song and imitating the dance. Today I was able to catch them on video while dancing in the car.

Krohn Conservatory

Mommy & Daddy hadn't been here until we were little. We told the kids we were going to see lots of pretty flowers. Emily was thrilled, Jacob not so much. But once we got there, he admitted that it was pretty neat. We had a fun afternoon. Everything was so beautiful!

Niederman Family Xmas lights

An annual family tradition - to do the holiday Xmas walk and see all the lights. The night we choose is almost always very cold. Good thing there is free hot chocolate to warm you up. Altho we don't celebrate Xmas as the time of Jesus' birth, it's so neat to go here and see all of the pictures and stories from the Bible set up and to be able to see that people in the community are still interested in God. We certainly are and any way we can reinforce talking to our kids about God is something we want to do.

Snow reindeer

A little bit of snow it all it took for the kids to want to go outside and play. Great snow for making a snowman, I mean a snow reindeer as I was informed by the kids.

Mullins family Xmas

It's neat that the Mullins' still get together for our holiday Xmas, even neater to see how our families have grown and how the grandkids/nieces/nephews are now the ones with the little kids.

Doofalicious!

One of the kids favorite shows is Phineas and Ferb. (Don't tell, but Daddy and Mommy like it too!) Recently they started saying one of the lines from the show and acting it out. I was able to catch it on video while we were in the car recently. People that were driving by were cracking up as were we!
