Easter

The kids looked for baskets on both the 1st and 2nd floors this year - both were hidden upstairs to their surprise.  We colored and decorated eggs.  I made our traditional cinnamon rolls for Sunday morning breakfast but put them in the shape and iced them to look like a bunny.  The kids thought it was neat!  I love holiday traditions with the kids.

Church notes

I love to see that Jacob is continuing to pay attention to Scott's sermons in church and really start to grasp the application into our lives.  Today the sermon was on God's grace.  As an example Scott referred to his grandfather's who obeyed the gospel at very different times in their lives and how both of them were saved.  Jacob detailed this correctly in his sermon notes that both of his great-grandfathers are in heaven!  What an awesome and merciful God we serve!

Her first of what will be many

Well, it's happened, in 2nd grade no less!  Emily has received her first love note from a boy!  It actually is a like note, as it reads "I like you a little bit!"  Too cute!  Then there are the "Dear Luke, do you like Emily, circle yes or no.  No.  or Alex.  Yes or No.  Yes."  And friend asking these questions and passing notes for you.  And so it begins...

She must have put her clothes on backwards

Blame it on Emily.  She wanted to put her clothes on backwards because apparently that's what helps you get a snow day!  Early March and no snow days prior this year, but they finally got one!  It was a big snowfall, about six inches.  Nice wet snow and not too heavy, perfect for building a snowman.  They named him Lenny.  He was made with love and completed with Daddy's hat, grapes for eyes, a carrot nose and a red pepper for a mouth.

Emily's Rahab craft

Emily made this craft all by herself for her class at church.  It's a replica of Rahab letting the spies in by the rope out her window.  Her class at church had learned about this lesson on Sunday morning and in the afternoon she was intent on making a project for it.  She even colored her yarn red so it would fit into her project.  I am so proud of her.  I am also positive that one day she will end up with a job in the creative arts field!

Upward

Another week of basketball in the books.  Emily was part of the halftime show today.  They had to try to get balloons in to the basket which proved to be difficult with the hoop at the 10 foot level!  She didn't make it, but had fun none the less.  It never ceases to amaze me that she has no reservations about going out in front of people to do something like this but gets embarassed when I see her dancing in the basement!

Forget the chocolates, give me sweet potatoes!

My husband is the best!  One of the many things that I love about him is that he is a great cook.  Tonight he made sweet potato casserole.  I could've devoured the whole bowl.  I've got a problem!
