Last day of 5th & 2nd grades

Another year in the books!  They've worked hard and learned a lot this year.  They are looking forward to summer and their three month break!

Jacob's 11th Birthday

Every year I feel puzzled and dumbfounded over the fact about how old the kids are getting.  I'm beginning to see that this feeling will never go away and that life is passing by way too quickly for my liking.  Just another reason to cherish every moment.  He was a precious little boy then and still is today.  He wanted a Bible cover and a basketball and got them both.  Emily gave me a baseball sticker book and some stickers.  We went to swim class after dinner and then celebrated with some ice cream at Graeter's.  Happy 11th birthday Jacob!

Field Trip

Today I went with Jacob's class to Union Terminal to visit the museums.  I had asked beforehand if it was ok if I helped to chaperone his field trip - he said yes.  I asked where he'd want me to sit on the bus and he said I could sit with him.  I ate it up!  I had such a fun time with him and his class, except for the small freak out I had in the cave.  Apparently I have a touch of claustrophobia!  We ate our packed lunches while we were there and then rode the bus back to school.  I was so thankful for the day and that it fell on my day off from work and that Jacob and I were able to share this together.

Jacob's Taylor birthday party

Ironic that we went to LaRosa's tonight for Jacob's Taylor family party and he's not even in the picture! He was sitting at the other end, playing with the tablet that Mamaw and Papaw had just given him.  We had pizza and cupcakes and had a fun night celebrating our birthday boy.

Jacob's 11th birthday party

Jacob had his first friends party this year.  We had a party for him at Skyzone, an indoor trampoline park.  Jacob had about 7 or 8 boys that came and Emily brought along her pal Claire.  All of the kids had a great time jumping around, flipping and shooting hoops.  There was also pizza, pop and cupcakes.  He got several nice gifts from his friends too.  I don't know why I never tried having a party like this before, it was great - no set up, someone else ran the whole thing, a clear beginning and end and best of all, no clean up.  Jacob loved it and had a great night.  We loved seeing him with his friends having a blast!

Goofin around

After swim class we were all snuggled up on the couch relaxing and playing with my phone.  These were the results of our fun!

Wedding talk

Scott and I were talking to the kids on the way to church and somehow got on the topic of people getting married.  The kids piped up and said and when they get married they aren't going to have wedding ceremonies to which I begged, please at least let your Dad and I be there, to which Emily replied, "ok, I'll have a ceremony, but you better start saving!"  I believe she might just me foretelling the future!

Mother's Day

One of my favorite holidays - I love all of the homemade cards and gifts.  I love how Jacob commented about my green eyes making me more unique.  Emily wrote my card in a song and then drew a picture of me and wrote about me.  I especially liked how she said it was from Sugarbooger Emily.  Our little nickname for her.  She also made me a lovebug.  I absolutely love being a mother to these two beautiful children.  They are two of the best gifts I've ever received.

Chapman bobblehead

The reason we got our Reds six pack was tonight, the Chapman bobblehead.  It was a chilly night, but we were prepared.  It's been neat to go down to the games and see all of the development that's taken place at the Banks.  It's so great for the city.  The kids always like to look at the bridge.  It's definitely our favorite one.

Kitchen remodel

We started this spring on a few tweaks that we wanted to do in the kitchen.  Actually, this wasn't one that we wanted to do, it was one we had to do.  The seams in the floor were coming apart in multiple spots and needed to be fixed/replaced.  We picked out a great grouted title that isn't cold to walk on.  We are really happy with the results.  I especially love that it doesn't show dirt, crumbs, pieces of grass AT ALL!
