April's priceless pictures

Another month of precious artwork from Jacob, compliments of first grade. This month Jacob decided to share his learned art talents with Emily and create an easter egg piece of art. It's included in the scrapbook below. I love how kids are so creative and get so into their projects.

Emily's 1st Build a Bear Workshop Party

Today we went to Kenwood Mall for Emily's friend, Kayla's 5th Birthday party. There were eight kids there and they all had a blast. Picking out, stuffing, bathing and dressing their bears, or other stuffed animals, was so neat to watch. The kids were so excited. Emily had never been there before but had seen many commericals for the store and was almost beside her self with excitement by the time we got there. She had a blast! Her bear turned out adorable, wearing a pink dress of course. After the party we went to the food court for cake and punch. A great afternoon!

Emily's last gymnastics class

Doing the obstacle course - this station was assisted cartwheels.

So far the balance beam has consisted of walking with assistance, walking with little assistance (teachers standing right next to them) and walking while lifting one leg up at a time. Today they worked on doing headstands on the beam! I couldn't believe it when I saw it. Emily wasn't too sure about it at the time but was sure proud to tell me about it after the class was over.

Here is Emily finally doing a somersault by herself, well kind of. For all of the classes this session she has just been content to have the teachers help her flip over. Not because she can't do it by herself but because she knows they'll help her and she doesn't have to do it herself. Funny!

Spring baseball has started!

It's springtime and in our house that means baseball! This year Jacob is playing machine pitch in LSO's Rookie league. The league was changed over to official Little League this year from Cal Ripken's program last year. Daddy is the head coach and has three assistant coaches to help him out. Jacob loves the fact that his Daddy is a coach. He's so proud - I know this is mutual between father and son. The machine pitching has been interesting. Half of the kids can hit it and the other half are timid around it. They are all improving. They all love playing in the field and are doing great - making plays and even getting outs. Jacob is having a lot of fun. He really likes that two of his friends from his first grade class are on his team. He has also seen other kids from school or from past sports teams on some of the other teams they've played so far this year. He's always quick to point them out. Games will continue through May and June - I'm sure more picts will follow. Go Golden Hornets!

This little snippet of video is of the kids finishing up their egg hunt at Grandpa and Mamaw O's house. They loved finding candy and money inside their eggs!

Easter egg hunt

I was getting ready to snap a few pictures of the kids at the egg hunt and pressed the button down only to realize I was still in video mode. So here's a few seconds of video before I switched the camera back. I caught Jacob being his little jokester self.

Jacob's imagination and Star Wars

Jacob has always had a very active imagination and been able to play and act out scenes and movies in his mind. Scott and I love to sit and watch him in action. He will go all around the first floor, making little noises and talking. It's pretty neat to watch his imagination at work. I wanted to capture it and be able to look back at his early creative years.

Emily's new saying ...

compliments of Candace on Phineas and Ferb. Emily has such spunk when she says this. Mostly she just acts it out when the show is on or shortly thereafter. There was one time here recently that she made the motions without the words. Scott and I just looked at each other and laughed. We're going to have our hands full with her in about ten years!

Jacob's new dance

Jacob recently picked up a new dance, from a Disney or Nickolodeon cartoon no doubt. He would dance and crack up laughing at the same time. The rest of us thought it was pretty funny too!

They made the trip up to Detroit, did some sightseeing before the game and took in the engery packed, fun filled game. According to them, the best team won - UNC. They made the return trip and got back at 4:30 in the morning. They had a blast!!!
